Formed in 1997, the Dark Star Orchestra has secured their signature distinction as the definitive Grateful Dead tribute experience. The band creates an electrifying atmosphere when they perform these classic songs, which include "Scarlet Begonias," "Fire on the Mountain," "Touch of Grey," and "Casey Jones". The band specializes in performances where the songs are played in identical and complete setlists from specific Grateful Dead historic concerts. The musicians demonstrate their precise observational and musical skills as they recreate the uncontrolled power that made the Grateful Dead a revolutionary force. The band maintains their musical dedication to the Grateful Dead and has brought them backing from some of the original Dead members, who have sometimes joined them on stage. KIRBY CENTER IN WILKES-BARRE, PENNSYLVANIA. 

Built in the Art Deco Moderne architectural style, the theater first opened its doors in 1937. Today the theater is tucked into downtown Wilkes-Barre at 71 Public Square. The Kirby Center for the Performing Arts provides its 1,800-guest audience with a seating arrangement varying from the majority on the lower-level orchestra and the upper-level balcony, with some suites on either side of the theater. The historic theater presents some stunning architectural designs, including some of the most up-to-date high-tech acoustics and surround sound systems.  The historic building now features some modern amenities and easy access to restroom facilities, with concessionary stands catering to light meals, snacks, and refreshment drinks.
